Have you ever heard the term that the world of marketing is full of fake metrics or what is often called vanity metrics?
This kind of opinion generally arises because what often happens is that most Marketing workers are busy presenting numbers that are simply pulled from several social dashboards, showing numbers such as number of followers, number of likes, and engagement rates for creative content which sometimes does not have objectives that are in line with the main goals of the business or brand.
Too many parties misinterpret the Marketing division as a division that is solely about creating creative content, branding campaigns and advertising, whereas on the other hand, the stakeholders of a business/company view the division precisely as key business driver to growth (the main key to business growth).
The importance of alignment between digital transformation and the main business objectives is very crucial here.
This alignment includes determining the main metrics at each point of the consumer-journey with the business, and also communicating where you are at and what metrics are being measured at each stage of digital marketing activities being carried out at a certain time period. The use of funnels is commonly used to describe the results of each metric measurement at each stage of Marketing and Customer-Journey activities.
